Abstract

Fibrous dysplasia are not rare disease in childhood but are rarely detected in the neonatal period. We have experienced one case of congenital or prenatal fibrous dysplasia who is a nine-week -old boy without pseudarthrosis and bowing of tibia.
This case merits reporting because it was congenital and unassociated with clinical evidences of pre-existing fracture or pseudarthrosis and because tissue from biopsy specimen revealed histologically typical findings to be seen in fibrous dysplasia.
In fibrous dysplasia, tissue histologically similar to that found in congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia is evident. According to these histologic similarities, many authors agree these two disease entities may be variants of one disorder.
